I have been a professional user experience designer & manager for the past 25 years. I specialize in developing design strategies for complex web, desktop, & mobile applications. I have spent over half of my career designing SaaS platforms & scalable back-end management tools. Historically, I've gravitated to working at start-ups or established companies requiring a reboot. I enjoy the challenge of building new design teams & implementing healthy design process to get companies moving in the right direction.

For the past three years I have been untangling the digital health care experience at HealthSparq. This is an astoundingly complicated industry where the normal design rules don't apply. Here is a description of one of the research techniques we had to rethink.

I returned to amazon for a third time to take on a really huge project - redesign the apps used in the amazon.com warehouses. I was the first designer to ever get my hands on them. In three years I managed to turn nearly all of their command line tools into touchscreen-friendly web-based applications. ...saving them millions by reducing training time.
A few years ago I wrote a comprehensive, yet concise, primer for those looking to better understand the core principles of UX design. It illustrates these principles with example projects, warns you of common obstacles, and introduces you to proven methodologies that help facilitate your efforts to find design solutions that work.
